This book is focused, to its detriment, on two mid-century designers whose products Herman Miller reintroduced in 1994. So if you're interested in designs by the Eamses or George Nelson, you're in luck. There are about 90 pictures of furniture by the Eamses, many in full color, in addition to brief bios and some production details. Nelson gets 70 pictures and illustrations, plus a brief bio. Noguchi, also a member of the 1994 revival, oddly gets a mere four pages. Now if, like me, you expect early Herman Miller designers such as Gilbert Rohde to be featured in a book called "Classic Herman Miller", you will be sorely disappointed (only seven pages for Gilbert). If you think "classic" equals "iconic", you'll be in for a bigger shock---Poul Kjaerholm gets three short paragraphs, and Vernor Panton gets one. One paragraph! If for some reason you equate classic design with 1980s-1990s modular office furniture, you'll be a bit happier. Geoff Hollington and Bruce Burdick each get about the same space as poor Gilbert.Save your money. This book has been surpassed by online resources available for free.Good book, great pictures.Great photographs and modern guide. Facts about each designer are included. A must have for the classic furniture collector. I highly reccomend this book.Fantastic book! Packed well ! Thank you !WHAT A WONDERFUL NEW PUBLICATION. LOTS OF GREAT INFORMATION & PHOTOS.
